David Leach - B.Sc. Hons Ost Med
David is the senior osteopath & consultant at our Luton and Markyate clinics. Having been both England & Wales lacrosse captains and played international level sport for the past 22 years. He has been fortunate enough to travel the world on numerous medical teams working with some of the top medical professionals in sports.
In recent times David's interests have steered towards infantile conditions, he has been working with children for the past 15 years and primarily concentrates on digestive disorders commonly known as Colic & Silent Reflux. To do this he has specialised in combining Cranial osteopathy with Functional release techniques. He also works with Autistic and Down syndrome children reducing anxiety and improving digestion.
In 2014 David trailed a research project using ultrasound to find the causes of conditions commonly known as Silent Reflux and Colic. His research found high numbers of these conditions were due to a recurrent area of the bowel being lethargic causing a blockage of food resulting in crying or discomfort. He then divided a specific treatment programme with fantastic results. David also noticed a high degree of neck injuries sustained in traumatic assisted births commonly coinciding with children who would not lie and self-settle.
We are all Registered Osteopaths with our governing body the GOsC http://www.osteopathy.org.uk/ and regularly update our pediatric knowledge.
I’m a compassionate osteopath with a deep interest in caring for my patients and getting the best long-term results for them. Osteopathy has encouraged me to deepen my understanding of the reasons behind the body’s dysfunctions, working out how they may have occurred, what led to those injuries and how I might help my patients on their road to recovery.
By using a combination of Sports massage and Osteopathy I will try to create the ideal conditions for musculoskeletal injury recovery. I like to combine my osteopathic, sports massage techniques and dry needle acupuncture skills to help treat a variety of dysfunctions and have been able to accurately personalise each treatment to the patient’s needs.
